Literature Text

The nurse warned me you'll be cold and stiff.
She didn't warn me how I'll crumble into tears.

It's raining outside.
I dried you countless times with mine own towel.
Yet now, I drench you in mine own tears.

You have frost around your mouth,
Body curled in slumber, tail held still.
Your toe beans still have dirt between them.

A stark, painful contrast,
To when,

You had food bits around your mouth,
Limbs splayed, mouth open snoring, and tail thumping rhythmically on my foot.
Toe beans and paws dusted with dirt.
(Sorry, don't kill me for telling the world you're far from glam)

You are a weirdo for a cat.
But that didn't make our goodbye any easier to bear.

Wait for me at rainbow bridge,
Greet me with your whiskers crusted with food, little messy eater.
Another poem for my baby Darlie. I've also gotten a tattoo of him above my heart because life just isn't the same with my little one gone.
